On Friday 28th February, seven year 13 students participated in Mock Interviews. N6 were very lucky to have Simon Phillips, Managing Director from SAI Logisitics in Milton Keynes, along with Ms P (CEIAG Manager for N6) to lead on facilitating mock interviews with the students. 
 
Students who participated in these mock interviews were given an insight into what it would be like when they are invited for interview for apprenticeships they have applied for.  This opportunity not only helped students to prepare for the real thing but also supported them with what went well and areas to develop as feedback was provided for all who attended.

This exercise is part of the varied careers programme developed and offered to all N6 students, where they can have the opportunity to meet with employers from the locality and to discuss their skills and what apprenticeships they have applied for. This links in with Gatsby Benchmark 5: Encounters with Emplores and Employees.

  • Every pupil should have multiple opportunities to learn from employers about work, employment and the skills that are valued in the workplace. 
  • Every year, from the age of 11, pupils should participate in at least one meaningful encounter*with an employer. A ‘meaningful encounter’ is one in which the student has an opportunity to learn about what work is like or what it takes to be successful in the workplace.
  • This can be achieved through a range of enrichment activities including visiting speakers, mentoring and enterprise schemes.
