The ’16 to 18 bursary’ is a scheme offered to help vulnerable young people to continue their education post-GCSE.

Student Bursary Fund Application Form 2018-19
We advice that the student ensures this is completed ASAP to ensure they avoid any delays
It is divided up into a series of Bands as followed:

Criteria |
Vulnerable Bursary £30 per week (up to £1200 per year) |
For young people in care; are leaving care; are in direct receipt of Income Support or Universal Credit in their own name; or are in receipt of both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments (PIP). |
Discretionary Bursary BAND 1 £20 or £15 per week (up to £800 per year) |
Annual household income of £16,190 or less, in spite of child tax and/or working credits; they are allocated to receive FSM as from the council. (These students receive a contribution towards the cost of a bus pass if they live over 2 miles from college, payment for educational visits during the year and reimbursement of the cost of visiting university open days or interviews.) |
Discretionary Bursary BAND 2 £15 per week (up to £600 per year)

Annual household income between £16,190 and £20,817; or have been faced with unforeseen hardship/ family trauma so may be pro rota. |
Discretionary Bursary BAND 3 £15 per week (up to £600 per year)

Annual household income between £20,817 and £25,521. These students receive a contribution towards the cost of a bus pass if they live over 2 miles from college. |
Discretionary Bursary OTHER £15 or £30 one-of payment depending on situation |
Student has faced an unforeseen hardship/ trauma and need ‘emergency money’, on a case by case basis as authorised by Head of Sixth Form. |
