On Tuesday 20th April, Year 13 students who are applying for apprenticeships participated in a workshop delivered by Apprenticeship, Support and Knowledge (ASK).

Navjoyt from ASK spent the morning with students to discuss what employers are looking for in applicants.  Students shared their experiences with the application process as quite a few students have had interviews with various employers.  Students gained information of employability skills as well as how to improve their employability skills.  Students were also informed about what to expect at an assessment centre which many employers who offer apprenticeships use to recruit the best candidate for the role.

Students had the opportunity to participate in a group exercise, similar to what they would be asked to do at an assessment centre.

Students were also informed about the following:

Standing out from the crowd, selling yourself, using initiate, confidence in contacting employers directly for more information as well as tailoring your CV/Covering Letter/Application form to stand the best chance at going through the next process of recruitment.
