As you may know due to the COVID-19 outbreak, college has been closed until further notice and all A-Level exams for this summer have been cancelled.

It is with a heavy heart that we at Newman Sixth are currently waving goodbye to our Year 13’s two months early and are incredibly sad that they will not be able to show everything that they are capable of in the summer since they were on course to exceed all past A Level results in Newman as well as Luton. We are all extremely proud of them in all the hard work, passion and dedication that they have evidently shown and we all wish them well in all their future endeavours.

As of right now, it is uncertain in how students will receive their qualifications but support is guaranteed for everyone by the sixth form team (emails below). Any queries regarding issues such as student finance for university, bursaries for those in financial difficulties and anything else can be made to them.

The boat party that was meant to take place on Friday 22nd May has sadly been cancelled due to the pandemic but free refunds will be made to those students who bought a ticket. Also those who ordered leavers hoodies will still receive them and they are still available to buy from ParentMail until the deadline on March 30th at 5pm.

From all of us at Newman 6th, we hope that everyone and their families stays safe and healthy in these unprecedented times and also use these next couple weeks to their advantage. This is a great opportunity for Year 12’s to start or continue their revision ahead of the new year and also for the Year 13’s to rest from all their hard work and perhaps practice something or take up a hobby that they have not had the time for!

This event has also brought the current web team’s role to an end until further notice, so for now, me (Fran), Shannon and Anthony would like to say goodbye and thanks to Newman Sixth for giving this enlightening experience of managing the N6th webpage.
